Prospero Teaching is working with a secondary school in the Gosport area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. You will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis as well as supporting small groups of pupils, providing tailored assistance to help them engage successfully in the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and making a real difference to their educational journey.
The Role:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
- Deliver targeted support to small groups of students
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging with learning
- Assist with literacy, numeracy, and classroom activities
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive participation
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Help implement individual learning and support plans
- Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children or young people
- SEN experience desirable but not essential
- Patient, nurturing, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build positive and trusting relationships
- Confident supporting pupils both individually and in small groups
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Backgrounds in education, youth work, care, coaching, or support work welcomed
Contract Details:
- Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
- Location: Gosport
- Start Date: ASAP
- Working Pattern: Full-time, term-time
- Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
- Key Stages: KS3 & KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
- Experience supporting children or young people desirable
- SEN experience beneficial but not essential
- Safeguarding training can be provided
- Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)
