Prospero teaching is looking for an EAL tutor that is able to deliver bespoke EAL session on a 1:1 basis for Young People who require support in learning English as an Additional Language required in your area.

The Opportunity

We are looking for educators with a genuine passion for transforming the lives Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, as well as the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. Prospero Teaching will provide support via our consultants and Training and Development Team.

We are looking for EAL tutors who are eager to work with children and young people with a variety of learning needs in a creative, flexible, holistic and trauma-informed manner to raise their engagement and drastically improve the outlook of their educational journey.

The successful candidate will have outstanding teaching skills both in the classroom and when delivering innovative and engaging learning on a 1:1 basis and have a passion for helping learners from a range of backgrounds to develop their English language skills.

  • Full-time/part-time – Part time (dependent on pupils needs)
  • Minimum rate of pay – Β£25 per hour
  • Hours – Timetable can vary dependent on pupil availability (during the school day)

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the 1:1 EAL Tutor:

  • ESOL qualification , TEFL or CELTA
  • A minimum of 1-year EAL tutoring experience
  • Be confident teaching UASC
  • Provide a firm but fair approach
  • Have recent safeguarding training or willing to undergo Prospero’s course

To be eligible for this role, the potential 1:1 EAL Tutor must:

  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references.
