Prospero Teaching is delighted to be working with a highly respected education organisation in Somerset to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Health & Safety professional to take ownership of health, safety and compliance across a large multi-site educational environment. The successful candidate will act as the designated competent person for Health & Safety, providing strategic leadership, expert guidance and compliance assurance whilst driving a positive safety culture across multiple schools.
We are seeking a proactive and influential individual who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, working closely with senior leaders to ensure statutory compliance and best practice are maintained.
The Role
- Act as the designated competent person for Health & Safety
- Lead the development and implementation of Health & Safety strategy
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and compliance frameworks
- Conduct audits, inspections and compliance monitoring activities
- Oversee accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Advise senior leadership teams on statutory obligations and risk management
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure organisational compliance
- Deliver training and guidance to staff across multiple sites
- Produce compliance reports and risk updates for senior stakeholders
- Support the development of a positive and proactive safety culture
The Ideal Candidate
- Essential
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification
- Significant experience in a senior Health & Safety position
- Experience working within a complex multi-site organisation
- Proven experience advising senior leaders on compliance and organisational risk
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
