We're working with a welcoming secondary school in Halifax to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you'll split your time between supporting students in lessons and providing targeted one-to-one support, helping remove barriers to learning and encouraging positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
- Supporting students with SEMH needs across a range of subjects
- Providing one-to-one and small group interventions
- Working alongside teachers to keep students engaged and on task
- Building positive relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and wellbeing
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation
- Helping create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people, ideally in a school, youth work, care, coaching, or support setting
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of young people
- Confidence working with students who may display challenging behaviour
