The Role
Depending on your experience and the needs of the school, your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom
- Working with individuals or small groups
- Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
- Supervising classes using pre-prepared work
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Providing pastoral and emotional support
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
- Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
About You
We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working with children or young people in a school, education, care, youth work or support setting.
You should also have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, supportive and professional approach
- Confidence working with children and young people
- The ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good behaviour-management skills
- A flexible and dependable attitude
- A genuine interest in supporting pupils' education and development
- An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, autism, emotional and behavioural needs or challenging behaviour would be particularly valuable.
