We are looking for a supportive and nurturing tutor to work with a Year 11 student studying Functional Skills Maths and English.
Whilst 10 hours per week are funded, the provision will initially be delivered across 2 days per week, with a focus on building trust, engagement, and a positive working relationship before introducing a more structured academic approach.
About the Student
The student currently attends an Alternative Provision and has an EHCP, which will be shared with the successful tutor.
Key needs include
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile
- Severe anxiety
- Selective mutism (context-dependent)
- Communication & Interaction needs
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
We are seeking a tutor who can provide a low-pressure, low-arousal learning environment and adapt their approach to meet the student's individual needs.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 6 months' experience in education, tutoring, childcare, or a similar setting
- Confidence planning and delivering Functional Skills Maths and English lessons at Year 11 level
- A patient, nurturing, relationship-led approach
- Experience supporting ASC and/or PDA (preferred)
No PDA experience? We can provide free training before sessions begin.
