The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a brand-new Exhibition Convention Centre. The venue will feature state-of-the-art AV infrastructure, including large-format LED systems and advanced event technology across a variety of flexible event spaces.
As a Senior Venue Technician , you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical production services across a wide range of live events. You will be responsible for overseeing technical delivery on-site, supporting crew coordination, and ensuring the smooth execution of events from setup through to de-rig.
This is a hands-on and varied role, combining technical expertise with leadership responsibilities and client interaction. Success in this role will be measured by the seamless delivery of visually and technically outstanding events.
Key Responsibilities
- Review technical job requirements with colleagues to ensure equipment and specifications meet client needs
- Liaise with clients when required, providing clear technical briefings and on-site coordination
- Set up, install, operate, and troubleshoot AV equipment at live events
- Support the planning, rigging, and de-rigging of technical event setups
- Oversee and assist with the coordination of technicians, freelancers, and crew on-site
- Maintain and manage on-site AV equipment and storage areas
- Ensure all technical elements are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure smooth event execution
- Identify and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively during live events
About You
We are looking for an experienced live events technician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and enjoys delivering exceptional technical production.
To be successful, you will have:
- Proven experience working as a technician or senior technician in live events
- Strong hands-on experience with LED video wall installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Solid technical knowledge of sound and/or video systems, with a good understanding of lighting
- Experience leading teams, freelancers, or crew on live event sites
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including client-facing experience
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- A proactive attitude with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Confident IT skills and familiarity with modern production workflows
