An established AV integration company is looking for an experienced Freelance Rack Builder to support the assembly and wiring of AV and IT equipment racks for high-end residential and commercial projects.
This freelance role offers flexible working opportunities, both in dedicated workshops and on-site, preparing professional-grade racks for luxury homes, offices, and entertainment spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building and wiring AV, IT, and control system racks to a high professional standard
- Terminating, labelling, and testing cables
- Lacing and dressing cables neatly for serviceable access
- Integrating systems such as audio processors, amplifiers, control systems, network equipment, and power management units
- Reading and working from detailed schematics and wiring schedules
- Supporting site teams with rack installation when required
Requirements:
- Proven experience building AV or IT racks (residential or commercial)
- Ability to read and follow technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
- Strong understanding of AV signal flows, networking, and power management
- High standards of cable management and finish
- Full set of hand tools and PPE
- ECS/CSCS certification (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (essential if attending multiple sites)
- Availability for immediate or short-notice freelance work
