We are looking for an experienced and driven Venues Technical Manager to join our team in this senior operational role.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the in-house technical team, ensuring the successful delivery of events across a wide range of scales and genres. You will also take an operational lead on key accounts and significant events at the venue, working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver outstanding technical solutions.
The role will involve operational and financial reporting, close liaison with production, warehouse and crewing teams, and ensuring the smooth delivery of larger projects on site.
You will work closely with the Venue Account Manager to develop existing relationships, identify opportunities and support the winning of new business for the venue.
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in live events and venue technical delivery, combined with excellent people management, commercial awareness and a strong practical understanding of modern event production technologies and processes.
You will be an experienced technical professional who is confident working in a venue environment and managing relationships with clients, suppliers and multiple internal stakeholders.
You will be:
- Experienced across a variety of event scales and genres.

- Confident working directly with clients, attending meetings and leading technical discussions.
- Technically knowledgeable, with a practical understanding of current live event production technologies and processes.
- Experienced in managing relationships within a venue environment, particularly where acting as an in-house technical supplier.
- Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of budgets, profitability and financial responsibility.
- Driven, motivated and enthusiastic, with a desire to develop an established operation and contribute to its continued growth.
- Highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities and challenging deadlines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaise with clients, attend client meetings and conduct venue show rounds.
- Act as the lead technical contact for clients throughout pre-production and on the day of the event.
- Prepare and administer event delivery documentation.
- Source and obtain quotations for externally provided equipment and services.
- Liaise closely with venue operations and other departments to support event delivery and operational development.
- Create 2D floor plans, schematics, power plans and other technical documentation.
- Schedule staff and book crew in conjunction with the crewing services team.
- Accurately enter and maintain information within hire management and CRM systems.
- Provide operational and financial reporting as required.
- Work closely with production, warehouse and crewing teams to ensure the smooth delivery of larger projects on site.
- Develop a strong understanding of client accounts and connect internal and external teams to provide a joined-up service.
- Support the Venue Account Manager in developing existing business and winning new work.
- Ensure all events are delivered safely, efficiently, professionally and to the required commercial standards.
Technical Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager, Technical Venue Manager or similar venue-based technical delivery role.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Experience using electronic diary and email systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong financial acumen and an understanding of the importance of profitable event delivery.
- Commercial awareness and experience working within a multi-stakeholder environment.
- A good general understanding of venue service provision and practical live event practices.
- An awareness of health and safety requirements, risk assessments and safe working practices.
