Role Overview: As a Mother and Baby Support Worker, you will provide essential support to mothers and their babies, helping to ensure a positive start to their journey together.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support new mothers with emotional well-being and mental health.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, midwives, and social services to ensure coordinated care.
  • Identify and address any concerns or challenges facing the mother or baby, providing resources and referrals when necessary.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment for both mother and baby.
  • Keep detailed records of interactions, support provided, and progress made by the families.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Must have an enhanced child and Adult DBS registered on the update service or be willing to process a new one with Prospero.
  • Must be able to provide references to cover your current and most previous employers.
  • Experience working with new mothers, babies, or within a family support setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of postnatal care, infant development, and maternal mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with mothers and families.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive approach, particularly in dealing with vulnerable families.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
