About the Role

Are you an ambitious Family Law solicitor ready to build and lead a Family Law practice within a modern, entrepreneurial firm?

We are looking for a Family Law Partner to establish, grow and lead our Family Law offering in Manchester.

This is a genuine opportunity to shape a practice from an early stage — taking ownership of the Manchester family caseload, setting its strategic direction, and building it into a full team with the firm’s backing.

The role would suit a lawyer who wants the autonomy to build something of their own, supported by the resources and expertise of an established, forward-thinking firm.

Prosperity Law continues to grow across multiple practice areas, supported by real investment in technology, digital infrastructure and business development.

You would join a firm that backs its lawyers to build — with a capable and committed in-house marketing and business-development team, and continued investment in both.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Building & Leading the Practice
  • Establish and grow the Manchester Family Law practice, setting its strategic direction.
  • Build and lead a team over time — supported initially by a paralegal, with a clear mandate to recruit and develop lawyers and support staff as the practice grows.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing and client-focused culture.
  • Work closely with the firm’s leadership team on planning, performance and growth.
  • Winning & Growing Work
  • Develop and grow your own caseload, building the department’s client base and market presence in Manchester and beyond.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referrers, introducers, professional contacts and existing clients.
  • Work alongside the marketing team on content, thought leadership, networking and profile-raising activities.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-referral and collaboration across the firm’s wider practice areas.
  • Client Work
  • Manage a varied caseload of privately funded family matters, including complex and high-value cases — divorce, financial remedy matters, private children matters, cohabitation disputes, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
  • Deliver practical, commercially focused and strategic advice tailored to each client’s circumstances.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of client care and service delivery.
  • Technical Excellence
  • Remain up to date with developments in family law and legal practice.
  • Maintain high technical standards and ensure compliance with all professional obligations.
  • Contribute to the firm’s reputation through quality legal work, client outcomes and thought leadership.
  • Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in privately funded Family Law.
  • Strong technical expertise across a broad range of privately funded family matters, including complex and high-value work.
  • The ability to win and grow work

— whether through an existing client following or referrer network, or a clear and demonstrable ability to build one.

This role is fundamentally about generating and developing work.

  • A commercial, entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine appetite to build a practice.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • An established client following or referrer network you can bring from day one.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or team-management experience.
  • Experience contributing to departmental strategy, budgeting or business planning.
  • A track record of developing and implementing successful business-development initiatives.

Why Join Prosperity Law?

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a practice within an ambitious, expanding firm — with the autonomy of ownership and the support of an established platform.

You’ll benefit from

  • A competitive partnership remuneration and bonus structure.
  • The autonomy to build and shape the Manchester Family Law practice on your terms.
  • A supportive, experienced and approachable leadership team committed to helping you succeed.
  • A capable and committed in-house marketing and business-development team who will actively support your profile-raising, content and client-acquisition efforts — with continued investment in both.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial culture where ideas and innovation are encouraged.
  • The opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues across multiple practice areas and office locations.
  • Genuine career progression and long-term growth opportunities.

Benefits (subject to eligibility)

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
