About the Person You'll Be Supporting

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 care to a gentleman living with Huntington's disease. As his condition progresses, his care needs will increase and become more clinical, so we are looking for someone who is confident, adaptable, and proactive.

You will support all aspects of daily living, including full personal care and safe manual handling, while helping to maintain his independence and mobility for as long as possible. Routine and consistency are vital, as is access to the community and social connection. He lives in a purpose-built unit attached to his family home, where his dog plays a key role in his emotional wellbeing.

Experience with Huntington's disease is desirable, but not essential - specialist training will be provided. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is also desirable, to support community access and appointments.

In this role, you will deliver person-centred support that respects individual preferences and promotes dignity, build a trusting relationship to encourage emotional wellbeing and meaningful engagement, observe and report any changes in condition to support evolving care needs, assist with meal preparation and nutritional support, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensure a safe and comfortable living environment, work collaboratively with family members and healthcare professionals, and participate in ongoing training and development to effectively meet the changing demands of the role.
