Teaching Assistant Level 1 – SEN
We are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant Level 1 for our Special Educational Needs (SEN) team at Prospect House Primary Specialist School. This is a fixed-term, full‑time role covering the academic year, starting 1 September 2026.
Key details: 35 hours per week during term time, plus five INSET days. Starting salary: £22,004, full‑time equivalent £25,583 (Grade 3).
Responsibilities
- Work with small groups of children under teacher supervision and implement Individual Learning Plans.
- Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to each student’s needs.
- Give regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher and keep records up to date.
- Assist with supervision of small groups of pupils for short periods when the teacher is absent.
- Ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities and support their differences.
- Participate in training to develop learning strategies and promote student progress.
- Support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
- Communicate effectively in accurate spoken English.
Qualifications and Experience
- Understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant and ability to collaborate with classroom professionals.
- Basic knowledge of child development, learning, and excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher.
- Commitment to professional standards, maintaining and enhancing knowledge and skills.
- Experience working with children and/or young people with communication, severe, profound or complex learning difficulties is highly desirable.
