Cover Supervisor (Part-time)

Location: Manchester Enterprise Academy, Wythenshawe

Hours: 14–21 hours per week (2–3 days), term time only plus 5 INSET days.

Salary: £9,999–£14,999 (pro‑rata). Full‑time equivalent salary: £29,064, Grade 5.

Main purpose of the role

As a Cover Supervisor you maintain continuity of learning by delivering pre‑planned lessons during the short‑term absence of teaching staff. This role offers hands‑on classroom experience and contribution to the wider school life.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging pre‑set lessons to whole classes.
• Manage classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
• Assess student progress during cover lessons and update records as required.
• Support students across a range of subjects and activities.
• Support curriculum areas and pastoral teams when not covering lessons.
• Provide additional support to curriculum and pastoral teams.

Essential qualifications & experience

• Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
• Experience working with or caring for children or young people.
• Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies.
• A calm, adaptable and positive approach to managing student behaviour.
