We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Head of Year to join our fantastic team at MEA Central. This is a permanent, full‑time role starting in September 2026. The salary for this post is MPS/UPS on the Teachers Pay Scale plus a TLR1.1 allowance of £10,174 per year.

About the Role

MEA Central is seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspirational Teaching Head of Year. This is a key middle‑management position for an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about improving attendance, punctuality, behaviour and the progress made by each student in the year group. The successful candidate will combine high‑quality classroom practice with strong pastoral leadership, playing a vital role in shaping a positive culture and ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

As a Teaching Head of Year, you will lead and coordinate the work of form tutors and pastoral staff, improving attendance, punctuality, behaviour and progress across the year group. You will work strategically and operationally to support students academically and pastorally, exercising professional judgement in line with the Teachers' Standards and Trust expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the pastoral provision for a year group, securing high standards of behaviour, attendance, punctuality and achievement.
  • Line manage and support Form Tutors and pastoral staff to deliver consistent, high‑quality pastoral care.
  • Track student progress and implement targeted interventions in partnership with Curriculum Leaders, SENCO and SLT.
  • Promote equality, inclusion and wellbeing, addressing barriers to learning and safeguarding concerns effectively.
  • Drive attendance strategies, rewards and interventions in line with Trust policies and KPI targets.
  • Build strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies to support student outcomes.
  • Lead student voice, enrichment opportunities and key year‑group events, including parents' evenings.
