We are seeking a qualified Teacher (SEN) for maternity cover at Pioneer House High School, a special education school. The role is full‑time, fixed‑term covering maternity leave from September 2026 for one academic year (or until the post holder returns), with MPSUPS plus SEN allowance.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified to teach and work in the UK.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with students, colleagues and families.
  • Experience working with children and/or young people with communication needs, or with severe, profound or complex learning difficulties (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of SEN and best practice in a special educational needs setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure students experience an educational programme personalised to their needs, developing their skills and abilities.
  • Plan, deliver and review high‑quality lessons that meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Foster a positive learning environment within the curriculum area that supports student progress.
  • Lead, develop and enhance the teaching practice or work of others where appropriate.
  • Take an active role in the day‑to‑day life of the school.
  • Ensure effective liaison with internal and external support agencies.
  • Make an active contribution to the school’s ongoing self‑evaluation process.
