We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Administrator to join our fantastic central team at Prospere Learning Trust. This is a Grade 5, 12-month fixed term contract, working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £29,064. The expected start date is 1 September 2026, with the contract ending on 31 August 2027.
We’re looking for an experienced Finance Administrator with experience of carrying out core transactional finance activities in both purchase and sales ledger. You will need to have high proficiency in all Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, and demonstrate a collaborative approach focused on improvement and supporting the vision, values and objectives of the Trust. You must be able to demonstrate accuracy and precision when preparing, maintaining and monitoring financial data. You will also need to have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing activities. Previous experience working in a school or education setting would be highly desirable.
Main purpose of the job: You will be part of the central finance team, working closely with the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer. You will be responsible for finance transactional processing in line with the Trust financial regulations and procedures, ensuring accuracy, compliance and best practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing and matching Purchase Orders, investigating any discrepancies and ensuring they are processed in line with the Trust’s financial procedures.
- Posting invoices to PSF in preparation for payment and raising sales invoices, ensuring they are adequately supported and the correct VAT treatment is applied.
- Carrying out month end processes in line with the Trust’s financial reporting timetable.
- Reviewing the commitments report, register and Trial Balance in order to prepare the monthly accruals and prepayments adjustments for the Finance Business Partners.
- Taking responsibility for ensuring all of the Trust’s financial regulations and procedures are complied with.
- Ensuring accurate accounting records are kept for all transactions.
- Attending Trust and school events as required and making a positive contribution during such events.
- Taking appropriate responsibility and action for safeguarding, being aware of confidential issues and maintaining as appropriate.
