We currently have an exciting opportunity for Deputy Headteacher to join our fantastic team at Pear Tree High School. This is a permanent, full time leadership role starting September 2025. This role attracts a salary on the Leadership Scale, points L10-14 with a value of £62,202 - £68,586.

We’re looking for a committed and experienced educational professional to work with the Headteacher, governors, trustees and the wider school community to effectively establish, develop and sustain the school’s ethos and strategic direction. This Deputy Headteacher position will include a small teaching commitment and play a key role in driving forward our School Improvement Plan, particularly with a focus on Post-16 provision and other significant strategic areas. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of improving outcomes for all students, especially those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable students, and those with SEND. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of strategies to effectively deliver the school curriculum and develop effective Teaching, Learning and Assessment practice within a school.

Main purpose of the job:

  • To provide excellent leadership and management to embed the vision and values of the Trust and to secure the highest possible outcomes for students across the school.
  • To take full responsibility for leading and managing aspects of the school under the overall direction of the Headteacher and take full responsibility for the school in the absence of the Headteacher.
  • To promote a shared collective vision across the school, enthusing, inspiring and motivating the whole school community so that all students experience a positive and enriching school life.
  • To ensure that the school is a safe, orderly and inclusive environment that engages students effectively and supports their learning.
  • To establish and sustain high quality expert teaching across all subject areas within school, drawing on national research and evidence informed understanding of effective teaching and how students learn.
  • To ensure effective management & deployment of staff to maximise student achievement & attainment paying due attention to appropriate workload and work life balance.

Pear Tree High School is a brand new specialist support school which sits in the heart of Cheadle Hulme. The school aims to work in partnership with parents and carers, the multi-academy trust, the local authority, and other agencies to provide exceptional education for all. The school commitment involves harnessing the resources of our school, Trust, and wider community to help students realise their full potential and make outstanding progress.

The new purpose-built SEND school site delivers state-of-the-art facilities which provide an environment suitable for the learning needs of all students and young adults. These facilities are designed to suit the changing needs of pupils from key stage three through to post 16. The curriculum is structured to equip young people with a significant learning need with the skills to thrive both at Pear Tree and as they progress to college and employment. The organisation of the curriculum reflects the needs of all students. Beyond the academic curriculum, experiences enhance pupils’ skills enabling them to understand the wider world so they can become effective citizens.
