We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our team at Pear Tree High School.
This is a permanent part‑time post of 16 hours per week, Mon–Thu 11.15am‑2.30pm and Fri 11.30am‑2.30pm, term time only plus 5 INSET days. Starting salary £9,749 (full time equivalent £24,796, Grade 1) from 1 September 2026.
About the role
As part of the catering team you will support the running of our school catering service by helping to prepare, serve, and present meals for students and staff. You’ll work in a supportive team to provide an efficient and effective catering service.
- Preparing food, making sandwiches and operating tills
- Assisting with the setting up and serving of meals
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and dining furniture
- Ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations
- Providing excellent customer service to students and staff
- Supporting equal opportunities and inclusivity in our workplace
Qualifications and experience
- Has experience in food preparation and service (school or catering experience desirable)
- Is reliable, enthusiastic, and a great team player
- Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills
- Works efficiently while maintaining high hygiene standard
