Prosper Recruitment are assisting a thriving and extremely busy Dog Training Centre in Mansfield who are urgently looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, and driven individual to join their Dog Training Team. Weekend work will be required to assist in promoting the business by participating in activities such as fundraising events and demonstrations and training sessions.

The ideal applicant will be an effective team player and can work alone. You will demonstrate a real passion for the role, a positive attitude and show flexibility within your work. Previous experience of training dogs, using positive based methods, and a full clean driving licence are essential criteria to be shortlisted for this vacancy. Ex Military or Ex Police Force Dog Trainer/Handler (perhaps retired) would be ideal for this position; however, all candidates with dog training experience will be considered.

As part of this busy Training Team, you will use your dog training knowledge and skills to train dogs in basic obedience and socialisation. Working together with the dog welfare team you will maintain basic dog welfare including assisting in kennels when required. Within this role you will need to keep abreast of modern dog training techniques, particularly around positive reward-based training.

Dog Trainer Requirements:
  • Knowledge of dog training and behaviour.
  • Dog training skills and abilities.
  • Understanding of dog care and welfare.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Ability to plan and carry out training sessions.
  • Visiting potential clients to assess dogs and agree an action plan.

You will be compassionate, approachable, and personable with the ability to be flexible and adaptable. As a strong team player, you will be highly committed with the ability to use your own initiative and "think on your feet" approach to problem solving. You will work in a tactful, diplomatic, and sensitive way.

This role will require you to work outside in all weather conditions to undertake daily training and lead walking of young, boisterous dogs and therefore a level of fitness commensurate with this is essential.
