Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Head of Sustainability for a newly created role in the Midlands. As the regional lead for Decarbonisation, one of the Group's core strategic functions, you will shape and deliver client strategies and programmes that drive meaningful impact. Reporting directly to the Group Sustainability Director, you will act as a key bridge between regional delivery and national strategy. This is a high-influence role designed to project a national presence for the business. You will lead their expansion and advocacy efforts across the Midlands ensuring the Group remains at the forefront of the retrofit and sustainability sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Influence & Group Contribution
  • Strategy Formulation: Actively monitor market trends and regulatory shifts to influence and evolve the Group's overarching sustainability strategy.
  • Market Expansion: Proactively identify and cultivate new, high-value partnerships to expand their market presence specifically within the Midlands region whilst supporting where necessary the Yorkshire and Northern regions.
  • National Advocacy: Act as a primary ambassador for the business, translating complex technical insights into actionable strategies that build our reputation on a national stage.
  • Leadership & Internal Scope of Influence
    • Team Management: Lead and manage regional multi-disciplinary subcontract project teams, lead the growth of their internal regional team, recruiting and developing a high-performing cohort of Sustainability Managers, Retrofit Coordinators, and Assessors.
    • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with core operational teams and the wider Sustainability department to ensure regional projects align with Group standards and PAS 2035 frameworks.
    • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the "go-to" expert for decarbonisation in the region, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning across the Group.
  • Project Delivery & Partnership Management
    • Client Strategy: Help clients establish ambitious yet achievable decarbonisation strategies at the asset and portfolio level.
    • End-to-End Oversight: Lead projects from initiation to completion, managing plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure maximum efficiency.
    • Risk & Performance: Identify and mitigate project risks (regulatory and reputational) while tracking KPIs to ensure successful outcomes.

    • Strategic & Technical Expertise
    • Regional Insight: A deep understanding of the decarbonisation landscape, drivers, and barriers specifically within the Midlands and Northern England/Yorkshire markets.
    • Strategy Delivery: An established track record in net zero strategy delivery and large-scale project execution.
    • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of regulatory drivers, on-site energy generation, and data-driven performance optimisation.
    • Financial Literacy: Experience in cost-benefit analysis, ROI for retrofit, and green financing mechanisms.
  • Leadership & Communication
    • Managerial Experience: Proven ability to manage and get the best out of multi-disciplinary teams while providing necessary training and coaching.
    • Stakeholder Management: A natural ability to adapt communication styles to influence both internal project sponsors and external client stakeholders.
    • Passion for Innovation: Active engagement with industry bodies (e.g., CRREM, UK GBC) to drive best practices.
