Overview

Our client is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness charity. Their mission is to ensure that every LGBTQ+ young person facing or at risk of homelessness or a hostile environment has somewhere safe to stay, and they work with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online support. They are recruiting a dedicated Supported Housing Manager to oversee the opening of a brand new LGBTQ+ service based in Lambeth.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Director of Services and oversee the opening and day to day management of a new six unit LGBTQ+ housing scheme.
  • Create a safe, welcoming and psychologically-informed home environment for all beneficiaries.
  • Lead and supervise a small, committed team of frontline staff; ensure that support delivered is person-centered, holistic and of the highest quality.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead; ensure team members fulfil safeguarding duties in line with company policies and work in partnership with a range of agencies to achieve the best outcomes for service users.
  • Provide training to professionals and support to LGBTQ+ people, ensuring professionals operate in an LGBTQ+ informed and inclusive way.

Qualifications and experience

  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing supported housing services for a variety of vulnerable people; able to collaborate with partners across sectors.
  • Significant understanding of the issues affecting LGBTQ+ young people who have experienced homelessness.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of welfare issues and housing legislation affecting vulnerable young people.
  • Strong communication skills; confident in working with a range of sector-wide agencies and delivering high-quality housing services for vulnerable people.
