Our client is a wonderful charity which has been working with and for people with a Learning Disability and autistic people since 1898.
Their mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities, and they currently deliver a range of high-quality housing, support and activities across local communities.
They are currently recruiting for an engaging, people-focused Shared Lives Officer to grow and promote their Shared Lives Scheme across Barking and Dagenham.
This is a full-time role and will initially be on a 10 month fixed term contract.
The charity's Shared Lives scheme is an enriching model of care which matches those needing support with a trained, self employed carer who opens their homes (and their life) in order to help support them.
Using your local knowledge, you’ll be spending time in local communities to promote the charity's Shared Lives programme, and encourage people to become Shared Lives Carers.
You’ll be out and about in Barking and Dagenham, connecting with individuals, families, and local organisations to raise awareness of the Shared Lives scheme at community events.
Through meaningful conversations and thorough assessments, you’ll identify and support potential carers to be assessed, trained and approved ready to provide care.
You will be a warm, engaging communicator who thrives in community settings.
You’ll have experience in social care, community development, or carer recruitment and will ideally have an understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities and/or autism (although experience with other vulnerable groups will be considered).
You will be organised, proactive, independent, and passionate about making a difference to the lives of vulnerable people.
Please initially submit your CV (Cover Letters not required at this stage).
At Prospectus, we are committed to building inclusive and diverse organisations and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
We invest in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you in your application.
If you are enthusiastic about working with a fantastic charity that makes a real difference in people's lives, we would love to hear from you!
Please note this role will be hybrid-working but will require regular travel across Barking and Dagenham as you engage with community groups and work to grow and raise awareness of the charity's Shared Lives programme.
