Job Description

Location: Newcastle
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Contract: Temporary to March 2026
Rate: £16.36 per hour (plus holiday)

About the Role
Prospectus is delighted to be supporting a large and well-established national children's charity to recruit a passionate and skilled Education Mental Health Practitioner. The role will support the mission to improve access to mental health services for young people, with a focus on delivering evidence-based early intervention support for mild to moderate emotional and mental health issues within educational settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured 1:1 and group-based interventions in schools.
  • Support children and young people in self-managing their mental health.
  • Conduct informal assessments and develop goal-based outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and manage a personal caseload.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners and attend relevant meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of resources and service innovation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner qualification.
  • Recent and relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Competent in delivering low-intensity CBT interventions and undertaking risk assessments.
  • Understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and service pathways.
  • Familiarity with solution-focused and cognitive behavioural approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and educational systems.
  • Competence in using digital platforms and clinical record systems.
