Location: Central London, hybrid (2 days per week in office) Contract: Temporary, 11 weeks Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Salary: Β£21.43 per hour (+ holiday) (circa Β£41,900 salaried equivalent) Start Date: ASAP

Prospectus is proud to be supporting our client, a well known international charity, in their search for a temporary Press Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to media enquiries and coordinate interviews with MSF spokespeople
  • Draft and distribute press releases relating to humanitarian emergencies and breaking news
  • Proactively identify opportunities to secure media coverage linked to current affairs and humanitarian issues
  • Arrange and support media visits by news crews and journalists
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists across broadcast, print, online, podcast, trade and regional media
  • Monitor and report on media coverage of MSF in the UK
  • Support advocacy and campaigning activity through media engagement

Requirements

  • Recent, relevant experience in a similar role in a not-for-profit organisation, including experience in a press, journalism, media, or similar communications environment
  • Keen interest in and understanding of world affairs and humanitarian issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Collaborative and proactive approach
