Location: Central London, hybrid (Monday or Wednesday in office)

Contract: Temporary, 3 months

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: 37 to 46 per hour, plus holiday

Prospectus is proud to be supporting our client, a London-based children's charity, in their search for a temporary Systems Accountant. The role will be focused on the management of reporting systems and purchase order processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of management accounts and financial reports through system-generated data
  • Develop and maintain system reports, reconciliations, and performance analysis
  • Ensure data consistency across financial systems
  • Oversee the monthly close process, including AP, AR, and GL ledgers
  • Review and approve journals, identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Ensure accurate period close and prevent back-posting into prior periods
  • Provide system support for statutory accounts preparation and year-end processes
  • Ensure all submissions (e.g. HMRC, Charity Commission, VAT returns) are accurate and on time
  • Maintain VAT configuration within the accounting system
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation, impairments, and reconciliations
  • Ensure correct accounting treatment of capital and revenue expenditure
  • Provide technical support to finance system users
  • Act as liaison between finance, IT, and external system providers
  • Manage user access, permissions, and system controls
  • Maintain financial controls, including signatories, spending limits, and system security
  • Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations

Requirements:

  • Recent, relevant experience in a similar role with a charitable or not-for-profit organisation
  • Full accountancy qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, etc), and a good understanding of data and systems
  • Strong ability to use relevant digital tools, particularly Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Collaborative and proactive approach
