We're looking for an experienced Network Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect to join a leading technology organisation and support its growing UK Public Sector business. If you're technically strong in enterprise networking, have a background in technical presales and understand how to work with UK Government and Public Sector customers, this could be an excellent next step.
The Role
You'll be the technical expert throughout the sales cycle, working alongside sales teams and directly with customers to understand their challenges and design the right solutions. You'll work across Central Government, healthcare, education, local government and the wider Public Sector. Your role will include:
- Leading technical discovery with customers
- Designing and presenting technical solutions
- Supporting demos and Proofs of Concept (PoCs)
- Troubleshooting network and application issues
- Translating technical challenges into commercial value
- Supporting RFP/RFI responses
- Building relationships with senior technical and C-suite stakeholders
- Working with systems integrators and service providers
- Feeding customer requirements into product and engineering teams
- Helping identify opportunities to grow existing accounts
What We're Looking For
You'll need a strong combination of networking expertise, presales experience and Public Sector knowledge. Key requirements:
- Strong Network Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect or Technical Presales experience
- Experience working with UK Government / Public Sector customers
- Strong enterprise networking knowledge
- Cisco routing and switching
- TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow and VoIP
- LAN/WAN and MPLS
- Network performance monitoring
- Packet analysis and network troubleshooting
- Network security and infrastructure design
- Linux and Windows knowledge
- Cloud and virtualisation knowledge
- Ability to run technical discovery, demonstrations and PoCs
- Confident communicating with C-suite and senior stakeholders
- Ability to turn technical capabilities into clear business value
- Comfortable with regular UK travel
- SC Clearance is highly desirable, although exceptional candidates without current clearance may be considered.
Nice to Have
Any of the following would be beneficial:
- CCNA, CCNP or CCIE
- Current or previous SC Clearance
- Wireshark, Zeek or similar packet-analysis tools
- Network visibility / performance monitoring platforms
- Security analytics and anomaly detection
- NIST / ISO 27001
- Security audit experience
- RFP/RFI experience
- Technical whitepaper writing
- Experience influencing product strategy or roadmaps
- Computer Science / Software Engineering degree or equivalent technical training
- Formal sales or presales methodology training
Working Pattern
This is officially a remote / home-based role, but it isn't a desk-based remote position. You'll be regularly meeting customers, potentially 3-4 days per week, alongside occasional company conferences and sales engineering events. Candidates should therefore be comfortable with frequent UK travel and ideally have good access to major transport links.
Package
£80,000 - £120,000 basic salary, 20% bonus, car allowance, excellent benefits package, remote / home-based.
