Leading a charity at the heart of the electrical and energy industries
The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) has been supporting people connected to the electrical and energy sectors for more than a century. Providing practical assistance, wellbeing support and life-changing interventions, EIC works with individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges, helping them to overcome adversity and thrive.
EIC is now seeking an outstanding Managing Director to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth, influence and impact.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Managing Director will provide overall strategic leadership of the charity, setting strategic direction, ensuring strong governance and financial sustainability, and building the partnerships, profile and resources needed to extend EIC’s reach across the industries it serves.
This leadership opportunity is for an individual who combines compassion and purpose with commercial awareness, organisational discipline and the ability to build lasting relationships. You will be equally comfortable engaging trustees, beneficiaries and staff as you are developing partnerships with major employers, funders and sector leaders.
You will lead the delivery of EIC’s strategy, strengthen and diversify income, raise the organisation’s profile across the electrical and energy sectors, and ensure the charity continues to provide high-quality, person-centred support to those who need it most.
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Significant senior leadership experience, with responsibility for organisational strategy, people, finance, operations and performance.
- A strong track record of driving growth and sustainability, including developing and delivering strategy through periods of change or organisational development.
- Experience securing income and developing partnerships, whether through fundraising, corporate engagement, sponsorship, commercial activity or other sustainable revenue streams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to build trusted relationships with boards, senior leaders, funders, employers and sector partners.
- Strong governance, financial and risk management expertise, alongside experience working effectively with trustees or other governing bodies.
- A visible, values-led leadership style, with the ability to inspire teams, build organisational capability and foster a positive, accountable culture.
What matters most is that you bring the leadership, judgement and ambition to guide EIC’s future, strengthen its impact and ensure it remains a trusted source of support for individuals and families across the electrical and energy industries.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a respected and long-established charity while shaping its next chapter of growth, innovation and sector influence.
