This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Board of Trustees at one of the world’s largest sport-for-development charities, making a meaningful difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people each year. Established in 2010, the organisation invests funding from a major professional sports league and its partners into affiliated club charities across England and Wales, delivering impactful community programmes at scale.
You will be joining a committed Board, providing leadership and strategic direction to the Foundation, and ensuring the charity continues to deliver against its mission, values and charitable objectives.
We are seeking to appoint three Trustees with senior-level expertise in one of the following areas:
- Policing / Community Cohesion: You will bring significant strategic experience within policing, community safety or a related field, alongside a strong understanding of youth justice, crime prevention and community dynamics. You will have credibility to engage with senior stakeholders and a track record of building effective partnerships across complex environments.
- Safeguarding / Education / Children and Young People: You will offer substantial expertise in safeguarding policy and practice, with experience of oversight at an organisational or system level. With a strong understanding of education and services for children and young people, you will be confident in providing both support and constructive challenge, including acting as a safeguarding lead Trustee.
- Health (including Mental Health): You will bring senior experience within health, public health or the voluntary sector, with knowledge of mental health and wellbeing, especially in relation to children and young people. You will be able to advise on emerging issues and support the Foundation’s approach to prevention and partnership working.
A strong commitment to the mission of the Foundation and the power of sport to drive positive social impact.
The ability to contribute to strategic discussions and analyse complex issues.
Experience of operating at Board or senior leadership level.
Strong communication, judgement and collaborative skills.
A commitment to good governance, integrity and the principles of public life.
The capacity to commit approximately 1–2 days per month to the role.
