Job Description:We are looking for a Negotiations Officer to join our Midlands team. The role will have a focus on the energy sector. In this role, you will be responsible for executing individual casework and supporting members and branches by ensuring successful outcomes through providing individual and collective representation. This role will also see you building and maintaining effective branch relationships and structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience and understanding issue based organising, collective labour law, contemporary industrial relations and a passion for working for a Trade Union.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual and collective representation, including triage and individual case work.
- Develop branch capabilities for organisation and recruitment and to work on specific issues-based and general recruitment campaigns.
- Deliver training programmes for representatives.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence.
- Good knowledge and understanding of employment law, holding an employment law qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Experience in and comfortable demonstrating leadership and taking ownership in a calm and professional manner in difficult circumstances.
- Previous experience developing branch capabilities for organisation, driving successful campaigns and providing support and advocacy for members.
- Demonstrate strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of/background in the trade union movement.
- Good knowledge of pensions and health and safety.
- Good knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams/MS Project (or equivalent).
- Valid UK driving licence.
