Independent Veterinary Group - West Sussex - Up to £65,000 DOE - Fixed-Term with Permanent Potential
Are you an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon looking for a role where you'll enjoy genuine clinical autonomy, the backing of an independent employer and the opportunity to become part of a growing, family‑owned veterinary group? We're representing a highly regarded independent practice in West Sussex that is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join the team initially on a fixed‑term basis to provide maternity cover. With the business continuing to grow year after year, there is also genuine scope for this position to become permanent for the right person.
This opportunity would suit a Veterinary Surgeon with three or more years' UK experience who is confident managing a varied first‑opinion caseload and is comfortable with sole charge when required. You will enjoy an excellent mix of consultations and surgery (approximately 50/50), giving you the opportunity to fully utilise your clinical skills while developing long‑term relationships with clients and their pets.
Working Pattern
- Full‑time (40 hours per week)
- 1 in 3 Saturday rota
- 15‑minute consultations
- Sole charge on a regular basis
- No out‑of‑hours
- Part‑time applicants also considered for those wishing to work predominantly from one site
You’ll be joining a modern, purpose‑built practice that forms part of a successful family‑owned independent veterinary group. Although the group has expanded steadily since its launch and now supports a large network of practices and over 100 team members, it has deliberately retained the personal feel and clinical freedom that many vets seek from independent practice. Unlike many larger organisations, the business is still led by veterinary professionals who remain actively involved within practices. This means decisions are driven by patient care and practical clinical experience rather than corporate targets. Clinicians are actively encouraged to share ideas and feedback, with management genuinely listening and implementing improvements wherever possible.
The practice itself benefits from a growing and loyal client base, modern facilities and the support of a wider multidisciplinary team across the group, allowing you to enjoy the advantages of a larger organisation while still feeling like an integral part of a close‑knit practice. Continued learning is actively encouraged. Following your first year with the business, you’ll receive support to pursue certificates and further qualifications should you wish to develop a particular clinical interest.
If you’re looking for a role where you’ll have the freedom to practise high‑quality veterinary medicine, be supported by experienced veterinary leaders and genuinely influence the future of the practice, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today for a confidential discussion and further details about this exciting opportunity.
