I'm supporting a long-standing, independent small animal practice in North West London searching for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon. This is not a high-volume recruitment exercise and the role is being introduced selectively to vets whose approach to clinical work aligns with the practice's values. This is a practice where how you work matters as much as what you do. Time is protected for proper case work-ups, client communication and continuity of care. The team place genuine importance on empathy, clarity and trust, allowing vets to practise considered, evidence-based medicine without being rushed or micromanaged.

The clinic is located in a desirable area of NW London, with straightforward access to Hampstead, West Hampstead and surrounding areas. Despite the location, the culture is calm, organised and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and professional respect.

From a clinical perspective, the practice is exceptionally well set up. Facilities include advanced dental imaging, a dedicated dental suite, full IDEXX in-house laboratory, ultrasound, endoscopy and bronchoscopy, multiparameter monitoring and a modern theatre suite. The building has been intentionally designed with separate cat and dog facilities throughout, and the team work to ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly and Dogs Trust Dog Friendly principles, including minimal restraint handling.

The working week is structured to support quality care rather than throughput. Consultations are 20-30 minutes, with scheduled time for follow-ups, client discussions, ward rounds and procedures. There is no out-of-hours, and specialist input is readily available via visiting cardiology and imaging specialists, alongside established referral pathways.

This opportunity would suit a vet with 3+ years' UK small animal experience who is confident in routine surgery and medicine, comfortable with occasional sole charge, and values working within a thoughtful, collaborative clinical environment. The practice is particularly keen to speak with vets who enjoy mentoring, supporting colleagues and contributing to long-term practice stability.

The role is available full time, with 4 days per week considered, and includes a 1:3 Saturday rota with a day off in lieu. The package includes 28 days' holiday including bank holidays, £1,500 CPD allowance, RCVS and VDS fees paid, pension, and clear scope for professional progression within an independent setting.

If you feel this may align with what you're looking for, I'd welcome a confidential, no-obligation conversation.
