This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to deepen their clinical experience, build surgical confidence and work alongside some of the most respected specialists in the profession.
Over the course of the year, you'll gain hands‑on exposure to advanced soft tissue and oncologic surgery while being supported by an exceptional multidisciplinary team that includes Diplomates of ACVIM, ACVS, ECVS and ECVIM, Radiologists, Anaesthetists, Residents, experienced Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants. You'll work directly with three highly experienced Surgical Specialists, including an ACVS Founding Fellow in Surgical Oncology, alongside six ECVS Residents in a collaborative environment where learning is part of everyday practice.
Weekly seminars and opportunities to become involved in clinical research further support your professional development, making this role particularly attractive to candidates considering a future Residency in Surgery. We're looking for a veterinary surgeon who is already comfortable in a busy clinical setting and eager to take the next step. Applicants should ideally have completed a rotating internship or gained at least 12 months' experience within small animal general practice. RCVS registration must be in place prior to application.
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and genuinely passionate about patient care. You'll need to communicate confidently in English, work effectively within a 24/7 hospital environment and enjoy being part of a supportive team that values curiosity, initiative and clinical excellence.
The rota includes a 1:5 out‑of‑hours nights and weekends commitment, with time off in lieu provided. Off‑site accommodation can also be made available for the duration of the internship if required.
Alongside a salary of £35,000 per annum, the hospital offers an excellent benefits package including 30 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, pension scheme, employee pet care discounts, wellness support, online GP access, unlimited mental health counselling and additional employee discounts.
