We're working with a fantastic independent, first-opinion practice who are looking for a Small Animal Vet to join their friendly and supportive team. This practice has an excellent reputation in the local area and prides itself on continuity of care, collaboration, and giving vets the freedom to pursue their clinical interests.

The Practice

  • Independent, owner-led surgery with one main site and a branch 20 minutes away
  • Recently refurbished and extended (2019), with a bright, modern feel
  • Well-equipped with digital X-ray, brand-new dental X-ray, ultrasound with cardiac probe, and video endoscopy
  • 7 consult rooms, a dedicated cat waiting area, and a two-table theatre
  • The practice invests heavily in both equipment and CPD, and as a training practice, they have a great track record of staff retention and professional development.

The Team

  • You’ll be joining a 13-vet team, supported by:
  • Certificate holders in soft tissue surgery and dermatology
  • 12 RVNs, 2 student nurses, 2 VCAs, and 10 receptionists
  • The team culture is open, collaborative, and supportive, with case discussions encouraged and a genuinely positive working atmosphere.

The Role

  • The position would suit a vet with a good work ethic and a team-oriented mindset, whether you’re a new graduate or more experienced.
  • The partners are particularly keen on honesty around strengths and limitations and will provide support where needed.
  • 1 dedicated ops day per week, with consults on other days
  • 15-minute consults
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (No out-of-hours only occasional inpatient checks, on a rota basis)
  • Some sole charge at the branch practice
  • Opportunities to develop interests, with CPD tailored to the individual

The Package

  • Salary from £35,000+ DOE
  • 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays
  • CPD encouraged and funded (certificates supported for the right candidate)
  • Time back in lieu if late finishes occur
  • Great location: just 5 minutes from both the train station and the beach
