As a UX Manager / UX Lead, you will take a central role in shaping, embedding, and maturing User‑Centred Design (UCD) practices across several large‑scale programmes. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity where you will help define the standards, frameworks, and ways of working that will underpin a new UCD capability from day one. You will influence how research, service design, accessibility, and usability practices are adopted across the organisation, ensuring that UCD becomes a core part of the delivery approach rather than an afterthought. In addition to providing strategic direction, you will also remain hands‑on where needed, guiding teams, supporting research and testing activities, and helping steer the creation of high‑quality UCD artefacts. This role offers the scope to build and mentor a growing UX function, shape best practice, and drive a cultural shift towards truly user‑centred delivery.

Contract Type: Contract or Permanent considered

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and oversee UCD strategy and quality across four major programmes
  • Establish and embed a consistent UCD framework into delivery processes
  • Provide hands‑on support where needed (research, service design, usability)
  • Shape UCD artefacts, templates, and delivery standards
  • Build and mentor a small internal UX capability team (not a lone-worker role)
  • Collaborate closely with Change Management to embed UCD earlier in the lifecycle
  • Ensure internal user needs remain aligned to end‑customer outcomes
  • Support adoption and cultural shift toward user‑centred delivery
  • Guide project teams and vendors on best practice UCD principles

What to bring:

  • Strong background in UX research, service design, usability testing, accessibility, UCD methodology and application—especially in low‑maturity or evolving environments
  • Experience driving UCD adoption across multiple projects or programmes
  • Ability to educate, influence, and advocate for user‑centred thinking
  • Comfortable shaping new frameworks and operating models
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Familiarity with internal business processes and change frameworks
  • Passionate about UCD in low‑maturity environments
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, patient, and resilient
  • Confident operating within ambiguity
  • Driven to grow organisational capability, not just deliver artefacts

What You’ll Get in Return:

For employees, we’re committed to recognising and rewarding hard work. Our competitive salary and benefits package includes; Company Pension Scheme, Private Medical & Dental Insurance, Group Income Protection, Group Life Assurance, Cycle to Work and Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme. We also invest in your development. If you choose to self‑study in your own time, we’ll fund your study materials and exam fees — and once you pass, you’ll receive an incentive bonus.
