Overview

The IT Programme Manager supports the IS Global Projects Senior Manager and Programme Director in delivering and managing a portfolio of technology projects and initiatives aligned to IS strategic objectives.

Location: Aberdeen or Remote with occasional site visits

Contract Type: Contract or Permanent considered

What you’ll do

  • Provide resource requirements for IT projects in line with the IS roadmap
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to project teams (project managers and technical SMEs), supporting development through mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Work closely with IS teams including Architecture, Data & Digital, Infrastructure and Security to support aligned delivery
  • Apply appropriate delivery frameworks and governance across projects within a PMO environment
  • Plan and coordinate team activity to deliver multiple projects, ensuring workstreams are aligned and integrated
  • Support planning and scheduling of approved technical changes
  • Lead Project Managers in defining requirements and translating these into structured delivery plans
  • Monitor delivery performance, ensuring projects are delivered to the right quality, on time and within budget
  • Work with 3rd‑party vendors and partners across delivery, commercials and resourcing
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks and issues
  • Lead governance and status meetings in line with the IS operating model
  • Ensure project documentation and reporting are maintained in line with PMO standards
  • Support business case development and tender activity where required
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure effective communication throughout delivery
  • Provide insight to senior leadership on delivery performance and risks
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and delivery approaches
  • Collaborate with teams across the wider business to ensure consistency in governance and standards
  • Occasional travel may be required

What to bring

  • Demonstrable experience delivering IT projects, programmes or portfolios (applications/products experience helpful but not essential)
  • Experience managing multiple projects within a technology or business change environment
  • Experience leading project managers and working with cross‑functional teams
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good commercial and business awareness
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong planning and delivery capability
  • Experience working within budgets and resource constraints
  • Familiarity with reporting and delivery tracking tools
  • Knowledge of project delivery methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile)
  • Oil & Gas experience beneficial but not essential
  • Qualifications (one or more preferred):
  • PMP / PMI
  • PRINCE2
  • Agile
  • MSP
