What You Need To Know
Proserv is seeking an experienced Proposal Engineer to join our commercial team. This is a key role responsible for developing high‑quality technical and commercial quotations in response to customer enquiries, ITTs and RFQs. You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Sales teams to ensure proposals are competitive, compliant, robust and aligned with client requirements across the full tender lifecycle. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with a strong background in control systems and industrial bidding, particularly within subsea or topsides environments. This role is based at our facility on Beacon Park, Great Yarmouth.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret client Invitations to Tender (ITT) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ), defining scope, deliverables and bid strategy
- Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals in line with Proserv policies and governance
- Identify bid requirements and coordinate additional technical resources as required
- Generate detailed material take‑offs and quotation line items, supported by sub‑supplier pricing where possible
- Coordinate inputs from Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to develop accurate cost estimates and schedules
- Identify value engineering opportunities and proposal differentiators to strengthen competitiveness
- Ensure proposals comply with client specifications, industry standards (API/ISO) and internal governance
- Liaise with the Legal team to minimise commercial and contractual risk
- Support pricing strategy and risk analysis alongside Commercial and Finance teams
- Develop proposal schedules, timelines, milestones and manage the tender submission lifecycle
- Review all documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to submission
- Follow up submitted quotations in collaboration with the Sales team
- Attend bid clarification meetings, both domestically and internationally, as required
- Engage with Proserv leadership and Sales teams from opportunity identification through to post‑bid debrief
- Provide regular status reports and updates to management
- Maintain proposal records, lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications / Skills & Experience Required
- Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls or Energy‑related discipline (Equivalent industry experience may be considered)
- Proven experience working within a control systems environment
- Demonstrable track record in an industrial bidding / proposal environment
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Experience in design and engineering of oil & gas production control systems
- Proven experience in subsea engineering bidding processes
- Working knowledge of API and ISO standards
- Knowledge of subsea or topside control systems, particularly hardware design
