Proserv are looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Technician to join our production team at our facility on Beacon Park, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth. You will be responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing and fault-finding of electrical and electro-hydraulic subsea and topside control system equipment, working in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards. As a senior technician, this role provides technical expertise on the workshop floor. You are expected to set standards in build quality, safety, housekeeping and discipline, and act as a key point of liaison between production and engineering. The role involves identifying and resolving technical issues, escalating design or quality concerns where appropriate, and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire and test electrical and electro-hydraulic control system equipment
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings and engineering documentation
- Build control panels, marshalling cabinets, junction boxes and instrumentation panels
- Route, terminate and label cables to industry standards and company specifications
- Carry out continuity, insulation resistance, loop and functional testing
- Diagnose and rectify wiring, component and system faults
- Complete job sheets, inspection records and NCRs where required
- Update redline drawings and wiring records, reporting any design discrepancies
- Support FAT activities and assist with customer inspections
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, housekeeping and personal discipline
- Act as a senior team member, supporting and developing others
- Occasionally travel offsite to customer or supplier locations
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Qualified Electrician with recognised formal training (apprenticeship etc)
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Experience building and testing electrical control panels and systems
- Knowledge of electrical standards (IEC, BS EN, NEC, company procedures)
- Competent in continuity, IR, loop and functional testing
- Proactive, organised and able to work to production demands
Desirable:
- City & Guilds in Electrical Installation and IEE 16th/17th Edition
- Understanding of ATEX / IECEx hazardous area requirements
- CompEx certification
- Experience within oil & gas, energy or related industries
