What You Need To Know

We are seeking a motivated Applications Engineer to join our Engineering Department, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of industrial control systems for the oil & gas, telemetry, and renewable energy sectors. This role offers exposure to technically diverse projects, including electrical, electronic, SCADA/HMI, and PLC/RTU systems. You will collaborate with colleagues across engineering and other departments to support design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning while ensuring customer requirements are met.

What We Are Looking For

  • Understand company products, projects, and processes.
  • Ensure technical solutions conform to relevant specifications and standards.
  • Deliver agreed scopes of supply on time, maintaining high quality, performance, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the highest quality and compliance of supplied solutions.
  • Generate documentation to support design, manufacture, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance of deliverables with company QA/QC requirements.

You will work primarily at the Great Yarmouth facility, with occasional UK and overseas site visits, including offshore work (site rate uplift applies). You will therefore need to maintain personal fitness to support offshore work, and hold a valid UK driving licence, passport, and offshore survival certification.

Required

  • Engineering qualification in electrical/electronic controls or energy subject.

Preferred

  • Engineering degree (BEng) or equivalent.

Essential Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Understanding of software development practices, including documentation.
  • Understanding of automation equipment SCADA/PLC/RTU programming and design.
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic equipment and applications.
  • Proven track record in an automation design/build environment.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and other departments.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, prioritise workload, and work as part of a team.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work within time‑cost constraints and self‑teach from various sources.
  • High level of self‑discipline, with pride reflected in the quality of work.

Preferred Experience

  • Understanding of hazardous area equipment selection, installation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of automation systems, including communication equipment.
  • Knowledge of C, C++, VB programming and web design tools.
  • Knowledge of design/manufacture of SIL‑rated equipment.
  • Involvement in SCADA/PLC manufacturer‑specific training programs.
  • On‑site/offshore commissioning and/or fault‑finding experience.
