Our client, who are a successful and growing international organisation based in Birmingham, are looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join their team.

You will be actively supporting a range of central business functions with overhead reporting and working closely with stakeholders across the business.

You will receive a salary of £40k to £55k, depending on experience plus a broad flexible benefits scheme and hybrid working. Hours are: 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

As the Financial Reporting Accountant, your duties will include

  • Supporting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, with a particular focus on overheads.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and completing balance sheet and other financial reconciliations.
  • Investigating variances, anomalies and discrepancies, getting to the root cause and ensuring issues are resolved.
  • Working closely with central functions and business stakeholders, including Property, to provide insight and support decision-making.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, profitability and variance analysis across areas of responsibility.
  • Deputising for the Finance Manager when required, including partnering and liaising with internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting.
  • Challenging existing processes and ways of working where you believe there is a better or more effective approach.

As the Financial Reporting Accountant, you will have

  • Strong experience in accounting including month-end, reconciliations, general ledger and financial reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • The confidence to investigate issues and challenge when something doesn't look right.
  • A naturally inquisitive approach - you'll want to understand the why, not just process the numbers.
  • Good Excel skills and experience working with ERP/finance systems; experience with D365 would be advantageous.
  • The ability to communicate finance information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Qualified or Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent would be advantageous.

You may have worked in any of the following roles: Management Accountant, Reporting & Analysis Accountant, Finance Analyst, Group Finance Analyst, Group Reporting Accountant, Assistant Accountant.
