We’re working with a growing business in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter who are looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join a small, collaborative Finance team. This is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave and is a hands-on opportunity with genuine responsibility across management accounts, overhead analysis, stock reporting, month-end processes and commercial finance.
You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller and key stakeholders across the wider business, using financial and system data to provide insight, improve reporting and help drive more efficient processes.
This role would suit someone who is inquisitive, analytical and commercially minded, who enjoys understanding how things work and isn’t afraid to challenge processes and suggest improvements.
As the Management Accountant, you will be:
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheet reporting
- Preparing monthly journals covering stock, depreciation, accruals and prepayments
- Reviewing overheads across 10 to 15 departments, including variance analysis and commentary
- Supporting the Operations and Manufacturing teams with the stock take process
- Preparing weekly and monthly inventory reports and KPIs
- Supporting the year-end audit through the preparation of relevant information
- Completing monthly FX revaluations
- Preparing statutory submissions including VAT and ONS returns
- Supporting product setup, costing and pricing within the ERP system
- Working with key stakeholders to improve reporting and processes using system data
- Providing wider ad hoc support across the Finance function
As the Management Accountant, you will have:
- Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA / ACA status
- At least 2 years’ general ledger accounting experience
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The confidence to communicate with and influence stakeholders across the business
- An analytical and inquisitive approach, with a genuine interest in understanding the numbers behind the business
- A proactive attitude towards improving processes, controls and efficiency
You may have experience in any of the following roles: Assistant Accountant, Part Qualified Accountant, Finance Analyst, Cost Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounts Assistant.
