We are hiring a Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition across the UK and Ireland and potentially EU. This role targets mid-market and enterprise produce companies and leads a consultative sales process positioning Prophet as the long-term system of record for complex fresh and perishable supply chains. This is not a transactional SaaS role.
Success requires the ability to:
- Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder ERP buying cycles
- Uncover operational and financial pain points in produce and perishable businesses
- Translate real-world workflows into clear ERP value and outcomes
- Build credibility with executives across operations, finance, and IT
You will own the full sales cycle from initial discovery through workshops, proposal and commercial negotiation, to contract close and handoff to implementation.
New Business Development
- Identify and engage fresh produce companies (distributors, wholesalers, importers/exporters, processors, growers)
- Build pipeline through outbound prospecting, partner/referral channels, and industry events (e.g., IFPA, SEPC)
- Qualify opportunities based on operational complexity, readiness, budget, and overall fit
- Connect Prophet capabilities to measurable business outcomes (not features)
- Run a structured sales process including demos, technical validation, and stakeholder alignment
- Set and manage expectations on scope, timeline, and investment
- Ensure a clean handoff to implementation with clear requirements and success criteria
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of closing complex, multi-year deals (100K - 500K+)
- Strong understanding of:
- Inventory management and warehouse operations
- Accounting fundamentals (GL, AP/AR, costing)
- Food processing and packhouse workflows
- Experience selling to mid-market and enterprise organisations
What Success Looks Like
- Consistent pipeline generation within the first 90 days
- First closed deal ideally within 4-6 months
- Ability to independently run full-cycle ERP sales across multiple stakeholders

Compensation
- Base salary plus commission (OTE competitive with the ERP market)
- Travel and event participation included
