The Valuation Office Agency is recruiting a Property Inspector for the Department for Education Net Capacity Assessment (NCA) Programme. The role involves inspecting and measuring a broad range of primary schools, recording high‑quality, consistent data to support the national programme. Full training and mentorship will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake regular inspection and measurement work assigned by the Team Manager.
- Organise and arrange inspections in three‑month blocks, managing your calendar and balancing workload, leave and personal commitments.
- Capture accurate measurement data on‑site using bespoke IT software.
- Use Microsoft 365, iPads and iPhones to record inspection data.
- Determine property key attributes in line with Net Capacity Methodology.
- Engage with data‑quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Conduct basic peer review quality control checks for colleagues.
- Engage effectively with schools, representing the NCA programme professionally.
- Undertake inspections independently for most primary schools and with a fellow inspector for larger sites.
- Account for decisions taken within guidelines and technical leadership.
- Log daily activities to support accurate invoicing to the client.
- Achieve key programme milestones.
Person Specification
- Experience measuring large buildings with a laser measure tool and interpreting plans to capture survey data.
- Awareness of the NCA methodology or evidence of applying a complex methodology.
- Well‑organised, motivated and able to meet programme milestones on schedule.
- Strong analytical judgement and the ability to capture accurate, consistent data.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office 365.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with team members and external partners.
- Willingness to travel regularly to schools and client meetings; flexible travel approach.
Driver Licence & Pre‑employment Checks
