We are seeking an experienced & highly skilled Air Conditioning engineer to join our growing team. This is a field-based position where you’ll be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding, installation and repair of a wide range of air conditioning systems across commercial and industrial sites.
The candidate would have a good all-round knowledge of maintaining air conditioning services & ventilation plant across commercial & industrial sectors. The candidate would be expected to attend client sites to complete planned maintenance tasks as per SFG20 PPM schedules, complete the necessary paperwork to support this & ensure compliance. Complete air conditioning quoted & reactive work. There is a responsibility to provide sufficient information to allow the office to quote further works & projects.
As a mobile engineer working within a small team of engineers nationwide, you would be expected to work well with others & equally fault find & problem solve alone. The successful applicant will have flexibility around their diary & would be expected to manage their time accordingly to complete the day's scheduled work. The candidate would be client facing & would need suitable skills to communicate well with both clients & office. A proportion of the engineering work will be outside of normal working hours & call out attendance will be part of the job role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on air conditioning systems
- Respond to reactive service calls and diagnose faults
- Perform repairs and replacements to ensure systems operate effectively
- Work on various equipment including split systems, VRF/VRV, chillers, and ventilation units
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients or customers when necessary, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with clients about maintenance schedules, issues, and resolutions.
- Complete all required paperwork and reporting
- Ensure compliance with F-Gas and health & safety standards
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent)
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (City & Guilds 2079 safe handling of refrigerant)
- BESA / BRA Brazing & silver soldering (or equivalent)
- Health and Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) (desirable)
- Legionella Awareness (desirable)
Experience:
- Proven experience in air conditioning maintenance and repair
- Experience with mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, air conditioning systems, and compressors.
- In depth knowledge & experience with fault finding Daikin / Mitsubishi systems
Skills:
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and controls
- Previous experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Air conditioning issues in industrial or commercial environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage a variety of tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members.
Working Conditions:
- This will require travel to client sites.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- A commitment to always maintaining the highest level of safety standards
- Out of hours callout rota (currently 1 week in 6)
