A leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Building Surveyor to join their established Building Surveying team. The consultancy has an excellent reputation across the construction and property sectors, providing a full range of professional services to a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.
As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will take responsibility for delivering a broad range of Building Surveying services across a varied portfolio of projects. You will work closely with senior colleagues and clients, taking a lead role in project delivery while also supporting the development of junior members of the team. Duties:
- Building Condition Surveys and Schedules of Condition
- Measured Surveys and preparation of technical reports
- Defect diagnosis and preparation of remedial specifications
- Preparation of specifications, schedules and tender documentation
- Contract Administration
- Employers Agent duties
- Project management of refurbishment, alteration and new-build projects
- Procurement and tendering
- Monitoring works on site and reporting on progress
- Reviewing contractor valuations and variations
- Managing project programmes, costs and quality
- Providing technical advice to clients
- Managing and developing strong client relationships
- Assisting with fee proposals and business development
- Supporting and mentoring graduate and junior Building Surveyors
Candidate Requirements:
- Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) or working towards chartership
- Significant post-qualification or relevant Building Surveying experience
- Strong experience across both professional and project Building Surveying services
- Proven experience of Contract Administration and Employers Agent duties
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction, defects and refurbishment
- Experience preparing specifications, schedules and tender documentation
- Excellent communication and client management skills
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior members of a team
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant surveying/project management software would be advantageous
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
