A leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious Associate Quantity Surveyor to join their established Quantity Surveying team based in London. The consultancy has an excellent reputation across the property and construction sectors, providing a full range of professional services to a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to take responsibility for major projects, develop client relationships and play an active role in the continued growth of the Quantity Surveying team.

As an Associate Quantity Surveyor, you will work across both Pre and Post Contract stages, providing high-quality cost management and commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle. You will have exposure to a varied portfolio of projects across sectors including residential, education, healthcare, commercial, regeneration and public sector schemes. You will also take responsibility for supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team, while working closely with Partners and senior colleagues to deliver projects and develop new and existing client relationships.

Duties:

  • Cost Planning and Cost Management
  • Preparation of feasibility studies and development appraisals
  • Cost Estimates and Cost Plans
  • Measurement and preparation of Bills of Quantities in accordance with NRM2
  • Procurement advice and tendering
  • Preparation and analysis of tender documentation
  • Contract administration
  • Working with JCT and other standard forms of contract
  • Project Financial Control and Reporting
  • Cash flow forecasting and cost reporting
  • Valuations and payment recommendations
  • Change control and management of variations
  • Risk Management and Value Engineering
  • Final Accounts
  • Advising clients on procurement and contract strategy
  • Attending and contributing to client and project meetings
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting fee proposals and business development opportunities
  • Managing projects and workloads to meet agreed deadlines
  • Mentoring and supporting Graduate and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
  • Working collaboratively with other disciplines across the consultancy

Candidate Requirements:

  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or significant progress towards chartership
  • Strong post-graduate experience within Quantity Surveying
  • Previous consultancy experience is highly desirable
  • Proven experience across both Pre and Post Contract Quantity Surveying
  • Strong experience in cost planning, procurement, tendering and cost reporting
  • Good working knowledge of NRM1 and NRM2
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and other commonly used forms of construction contract
  • Experience working across a range of sectors and project values
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and delivering commercial solutions
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior members of a team
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience using CostX or similar measurement/cost management software would be advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence would be advantageous
