A leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy are currently seeking an ambitious Assistant Building Surveyor to join their established Building Surveying team in South East London. The consultancy has an excellent reputation across the construction sector and delivers a diverse range of services to clients across a variety of public and private sector markets. This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Building Surveyor with around 12 years post-graduate experience to join a collaborative and supportive team. You will gain exposure to a broad range of projects across sectors including housing, education, commercial, care and healthcare, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and retrofit projects.

As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to the delivery of both professional and project-based building surveying services. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop your technical skills, broaden your project experience and progress towards RICS chartership.

Duties:

  • Assisting with building condition surveys and inspections
  • Preparing reports and providing technical advice
  • Supporting the delivery of building surveying and project-related services
  • Assisting with the preparation of specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
  • Supporting refurbishment, alteration and improvement projects
  • Assisting with energy efficiency and retrofit initiatives
  • Working across housing, education, commercial, care and healthcare projects
  • Attending site visits, client meetings and project meetings
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and wider professional teams
  • Working collaboratively with experienced Building Surveyors and other disciplines
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects from inception through to completion

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a relevant discipline
  • Ideally 12 years post-graduate experience within Building Surveying
  • Currently working towards RICS chartership/APC
  • Good understanding of building surveying principles and construction technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach with the ability to use initiative
  • An interest in energy efficiency, sustainability and retrofit would be advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites would be advantageous
