The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and safety-driven organisation specialising in residential property compliance and fire safety. This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact in keeping residential buildings safe and compliant through professional fire door inspections in line with UK regulations.

The Role: As a Fire Door Inspector, you will be responsible for carrying out visual inspections only of fire doors across various residential buildings to ensure they meet current legislation, standards and safety requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying and reporting non-compliance issues, liaising with clients, and maintaining detailed inspection records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct visual fire door inspections to assess compliance with legal and manufacturer specifications

• Examine frames, leafs, hinges, vision panels, intumescent strips, smoke seals, signage and self-closers

• Identify and report any defects, damage, or areas of non-compliance

  • Record findings accurately using checklists or digital inspection software
  • Liaise with clients regarding inspection results and recommended actions
  • Ensure all inspections are aligned with FDIS or equivalent standards
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation and fire safety guidance#

The Person: We are looking for a diligent, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual with a background in fire safety, facilities management, or property maintenance. You should have experience dealing with residential buildings and fire door compliance. A methodical, proactive approach and strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.

Skills & Experience:

  • FDIS CertFDI, BRE/LPCB qualification, or equivalent (or willingness to train)
  • Experience in fire safety, property maintenance, or facilities management
  • Solid understanding of fire door standards and component requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills
  • Confident using digital inspection tools and mobile apps
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work independently
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning
  • • Familiarity with BS 9999, BS 8214, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is a plus

Additional Information:

• This role is site-based with regular travel across the UK

  • Inspections may involve accessing communal areas, risers, stairwells, and corridors
  • Compliance with Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, including monthly checks for high-rise residential buildings where applicable, is required
