The Handyman is responsible for carrying out a wide range of property maintenance tasks across residential and commercial buildings. This role ensures that properties remain safe, functional, and compliant with housing standards, while providing responsive support to tenants, staff, and management.
General Maintenance
- Routine repairs: doors, locks, windows, fixtures, fittings
- Minor plumbing: unblocking sinks, fixing leaks, replacing taps
- Basic electrical: changing light bulbs, sockets, switches (non-certified tasks only)
- Painting, decorating, plastering, and touch-ups
- Furniture assembly and fitting
Property Upkeep
- Cleaning and maintaining communal areas, stairwells, and entryways
- External maintenance: fences, gates, pathways, minor landscaping
- Seasonal tasks: gritting, clearing leaves, minor gardening
- Ensuring properties are safe, secure, and well-presented
Compliance & Safety
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times
- Use tools and equipment safely and appropriately
- Report hazards, risks, or major repair needs promptly
- Support compliance with HMO standards and local authority requirements
Specialist Support
- Assist with property inspections and audits
- Support contractors with larger works (plumbing, electrical, gas, roofing)
