Overview
We are looking for a QA Technician to join our Nuneaton-based Technical team. At PROPER SNACKS, the Technical team are the tastemakers and gatekeepers of quality and food safety, ensuring the most delicious products are ending up in our snackers’ hands.

As a PROPER QA Technician, you will operate as an integral part of the site’s quality & technical team based in the Nuneaton Snacktory. The role will report into the Quality Manager. By having an active, ‘eyes wide open’ presence on site to report incidents or issues that may put product safety, quality or legality at risk and take suitable actions. Monitoring CCP checks along with other quality control points for compliance, to ensure we are sending out amazing snacks that our consumers know and love.
The role is a Monday to Friday shift on a 2pm-10pm basis.
The Role
This role will be focused on assisting the Technical team to ensure the day-to-day routine quality control, GMP and hygiene tasks and completed to satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Attend daily Tier 1 meeting and effectively communicate and escalate issues as required.
- Monitor product safety, quality and legality and ensure issues are escalated appropriately and the right actions are taken.
- Carry out routine internal audits including Glass & Brittle plastics & Quality audits.
- Verify key measuring equipment such as scales, oxygen meters etc to schedule.
- Prepare and partake in sampling and organoleptic testing (taste panels, Yum!)
- Communicate with Shift Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers issues arising during GMP, CCPs and/or any other internal or external audit to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken and provide support to production team during investigations.
- Ensure that all checks, data entry and paperwork are completed accurately and on time, to conform to company policy.
- Provide sufficient coaching and assistance to production team members to support problem solving activity
- Check intake of raw materials as required to ensure ingredients are fit for purpose.
- Assist another member of the technical team with ad-hoc tasks as reasonably required.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with some quality assurance experience ideally within a food manufacturing environment. A working knowledge of GMP and basic food safety principles. We are also looking for someone who possess the following:
- IT literacy (MS Office, E-mail, Excel, Smart Device Apps)
- Good communicator with strong spoken and written skills.
- Good numeracy skills, ability to work out averages, percentages etc.
- Diligent with good attention to detail.
- Team player to work collaboratively
- Strong influencer to build good cross departmental relationships.
- Reliable and flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
- Food Safety, HACCP (Level 2 Qualification) – Desirable
